ABOUT EX~PO
Bios are tricky things to write ~ tricky, tricky things. EX~PO is a Toronto-based indie rock band formed by producer/musician Dean Marino. Dean Marino is best known around town as the guy who owns Chemical Sound Recording Studio. You may have seen his name on record sleeves (go look for it). What started as Dean’s solo project became a band, out of necessity, and then became greater than the sum of its parts. The first EX~PO long-player, Central Meaner Street, was self-released in 2008 (on vinyl and download). It was a critical success, so to speak. Sometime after that, Dean was joined by Bobby Lee (Drums), Wendy Leung (Keys/Voice) and Todd Harrison (Bass/Keys/Voice). They played selections from that record live in places like Toronto’s Rancho Relaxo and Halifax’s Seahorse Tavern and outdoor festivals in Welland - well into 2009. All the while Dean would introduce new songs, now and then, which filtered into live performances. Pretty soon the little indie band had a whole album’s worth of new material. Now that it’s 2010, EX~PO are working, collectively, on their new full-length record. They hope to see you “out there,” soon.
